Periodization:
Performax uses a systematic approach to athlete training to peak students for competition. Each golfer will go through an evaluation week, short game week, technical weeks, pre-competition weeks, and competition weeks.
Evaluation Week:
During this week each individual student will have his/her short game evaluated and measured based upon other students short games as well as that of professional players. This enables the instructor and the student to understand the strength and weaknesses of each students short game. Course management is also evaluated as well as preparation, routines, and reaction to good and bad shots.
Short Game Week:
During this week, short game only is taught and stressed to our students. Our philosophy is that our players are not truly great golfers until they could go out and miss a majority of greens and still shoot level par. Not even the best players hit the ball well for four rounds. It is their short game that allows them to get through these rounds and still shoot great scores. This philosophy is emphasized and our motto is that short game wins tournaments. Students are taught how to hit a multiple of different shots including a low, medium, high, and ultra high chip shots. They are also taught how to hit different flop shots including a slide shot that is very effective around the green. Bunkers will be taught to students and students will be expected to learn how to hit at least four different types of bunker shots including different trajectories and different spin to prepare them for every situation.
Technical Week:
During Technical Weeks students learn the proper mechanics of the golf swing and will understand the importance of proper fundamentals and the role they play throughout the golf swing. Video and computer analysis will be used to assist these students in understanding that “feel” versus “real” is not always the same and they will understand their golf swing as well as the causes for bad shots and ways to “band aid” those problems on the golf course if ever the situation is needed. Training aids and drills are crucial in this stage to help speed up the learning process. Students will spend limited amount of time on the golf course and the majority will be spent working on their swing during this phase.
Pre-Competition Weeks:
This period of time consists of 50% technical and 50% feel. Students will still spend a minimum amount of time on the range working on their swings, but the majority of the time will be spent answering questions about ball flight and misses of their good and bad shots. Students will be taught how to control the trajectory and direction of the golf ball as well as spending time working on go-to shots as well as routines and course strategy techniques. Various on course games will be taught to make learning fun and stress important areas of competing on the course. Wedge distances will be calibrated and students will have a great understanding of the importance of distance control as it pertains to scoring.

Competition Weeks:
The majority of this time will be spent on the golf course competing against fellow students and/or professionals. This time is important for the instructor to evaluate how each student reacts to bad and good shots and to see if the student is truly understanding how to get the ball around the course in the most efficient manner. A periodization schedule will be set so that students can peak their game for local or national tournaments.
Mental
The Performax Junior Golf Academy understands the importance of mental conditioning as it pertains to golf. Students will be taught how to prepare and deal with many different mental situations that arise during a round of golf. Fear of Failure, anxiety, arousal and anger are among several topics that will be discussed and dealt with during the academy.
